Can I borrow books or get a library card if I am not a student?

Most of the UH Libraries, including Kapiʻolani CC, allow Community Borrowers. You can get a UH Community Borrower Card at the Circulation Desk at our library.

Details about borrowing privileges including cost are below: 

  • Borrower Card - UH Community Borrower Card and valid Hawaii photo ID
  • Cost - 1 Year - $60.00 (Seniors 60 yrs and older - $30.00) 6 Months - $30.00 (Seniors 60 yrs and older - $20.00)
  • Loan Period - 28 days, 10 item limit
  • Renewal Limit - 1 Renewal online or in person
  • OneSearch Online Request - No online requests
  • E-Resources and Databases - Only resources available on Public Computers
  • Course Reserves - No Course Reserves borrowing
  • Wong Audiovisual Materials - Use in-house or pay a fee to check out
  • Interlibrary Loan - No interlibrary loan
  • Library Computers - May utilize the public user computers
  • Room Reservations - No room reservations
