What is the difference between the EdReady and the Accuplacer test?

Answer

If you are a student applying for entry into a specific program offered at Kapi'olani CC:
The following programs REQUIRE the ACCUPLACER test, not EdReady, if placement scores are needed for direct entry in the application process:

  • English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
  • Dental Assisting (DENT)
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
  • Medical Assisting (MEDA)
  • Adult Residential Care Home Operator (ARCH)
  • Nurse Aide

The EdReady Math and/or English is a diagnostic test.  This test may be taken from home. No proctor is necessary.

For Current High School Students or Recent High School Graduates (within the last two years):
Current high school students and recent high school graduates may use SAT, ACT, SmarterBalanced test scores, or High School Grades and GPA for direct placement into a MATH or ENG course.

For Adult Learners:
Adult learners may use HiSET or GED test scores for direct placement into a MATH or ENG course.
